Marian Sodality for female university students, founded by ACU’s Fr. Felipe Rey de Castro SJ, at the suggestion of ACU founding member Dr. Armando Ruiz Leiro, one of the Island’s best internists, and his wife Dr. Rosalba Roberts. Its rules were identical to ACU’s and it attests to ACU founder’s farsightedness at a time when women made up low single-digit percentage of university enrollments or positions of leadership outside the home. Mystic Rose did not survive the exile of the 1960s and awaits ifs first historian. We are grateful to sodalist Blanca R.
